A Vessel for Honorable Use: Endurance in Holiness
GRN National Conference 2026

by Kevin DeYoung June 17, 2026

Editor’s Note: Our Holy God uses holy men. Therefore, we must pursue great holiness and endure in this pursuit. Dr. Kevin DeYoung not only explains the text of 2 Timothy 2, but motivates us to be zealous for a Christ-focused holiness. Godly piety is essential to pastoral ministry, but it’s never easy. Pressures in ministry sometimes lead pastors to love the world and indulge the flesh. Sadly, many pastors disregard God’s law and the call to holiness and fall into patterns of heinous (disqualifying) sin. The pastor must keep his eyes on the loveliness of Christ and His redemptive work, and drink deeply of the means of grace through personal, family, and public worship. He must pay careful attention to his own walk with God, even as he teaches others to do the same. This message will challenge pastors in all seasons of ministry and life to endure in the spiritual disciplines and the cultivation of personal holiness.
