The Need of Our Present Moment
J. Ligon Duncan, III at the 2025 PCA General Assembly GRN Dinner Banquet

by GRN Staff June 30, 2025

Executive Council member Dr. J. Ligon Duncan, III of Reformed Theological Seminary addressed over 850 attendees at the 2025 PCA General Assembly GRN Dinner Banquet. His message was simple: we need now more than ever to invest in the young men of our Church. The title of his address is “The Gospel Works: Why Confidence in God’s Ordinary Means of Grace Is Our Way Forward.”

Drawing from the rich thought of Herman Witsius’ On the Character of a True Theologian, Dr. Duncan presented a vision for cultivating humility, respect, love of neighbor, and biblical virtue in our shared discourse and churchmanship. He also exhorted young men to eschew crassness and “trolling” as Internet “edgelords” in favor of maturity. “Be the adult in the room.”
